    Join us on June 5th for a Special Event at the Michigan State Capitol

    • Gain insights into the local economy and politics that you can share with your clients.
    • The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) will give a legislative update to include 2018 Ballot Proposals (mandatory paid leave, minimum wage increase and elimination of tip wages).
    • A visit to the Senate Gallery to include a front row seat to view a live senate session.
    • A VIP visit to the House Floor.
    • A presentation by Jeremy Hendges, Chief Deputy Director at Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development.
    • An optional tour of the State Capitol Building.

    About the Presentation:  J
    eremy Hendges, Chief Deputy Director, Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development will lead us in a discussion on the following items:

    • Overview on his position with the MEDC and the Department’s area of responsibility;
    • The history of Michigan’s past economic development growth and where it is today;
    • Summary of the Marshall Plan for Talent and what opportunities it has to offer and why it is critical for Michigan’s economic growth;
    • What MEDC has next on their docket and their plans for the future; and
    • An opportunity on questions and answers from the audience.

    About the speaker:  Jeremy Hendges currently serves as Chief Deputy Director at the Michigan Department of Talent & Economic Development (TED). TED was officially launched in 2015 to bring together the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, and the Talent Investment Agency to implement a cohesive approach to economic, community and talent development for the State of Michigan. As part of the TED team Hendges is focused on ensuring that people, job providers, and communities have the tools they need to succeed.

    Prior to joining TED, Hendges worked in the Michigan Legislature for just over 12 years holding a variety of positions on legislative policy and process. During his time in the legislature Hendges worked for legislative leadership offices in both the Senate and the House.
