As I begin my term as your FPA of Michigan President, I would like to start by saying it is an honor to serve the needs of “Our” chapter during 2018. Being actively involved with the chapter for the last four and a half years, I have come to appreciate the value that the National FPA and the FPA of Michigan can and does provide to its members. Your FPA of Michigan board members work very hard developing educational programming and fun activities on your behalf, with the end goal of enhancing the membership experience.
We understand the geographic challenges of being a statewide chapter. However, small group activities are popping up all over the state and we want more! Events such as Morning Breakfast Clubs, Beers with Peers, Women in Finance and NexGen gatherings all provide opportunities to mentor peers and grow the profession we all love. This is a very exciting time, and we ask and encourage members to reach out to Mary Medonis, our chapter executive, if you would like to learn more and start a small group activity in your area.
Your involvement is how we will continue to grow our chapter success. With over 500 members statewide and recognized as a top chapter by FPA National, there is an abundance of talent within our ranks that needs to be shared. Being involved can be as simple as sharing your business and life experience while attending our Annual Fall Symposium or an Educational Event, or volunteering to be on a committee. In closing, the theme for the year might just well be “Get Involved, Be Involved” and I would like to personally invite every one of our members to think of how you might accept the challenge. We are stronger when we all work together.
Looking forward to learning from you!
